Travis Oddy Wins Player of the Game in All-Star Tilt

From the Maple Ridge News – http://www.mapleridgenews.com/sports/240651441.html

Ridge Meadows Flames team captain Travis Oddy won player of the game honours in the Junior B all-star tilt.

Oddy scored a hat trick and added and assist as his Harold Brittain Conference team downed the Tom Shaw Conference 10-8 in the all-star game on Monday night in Abbotsford.

He was joined there by teammates Dale Howell and Tyler Read. Howell also had a goal in the game.

Read, who has been unbeatable for stretches of the season, allowed four goals on 20 shots – a reasonable performance for an all-star game, which typically operate like a breakaway drill.

Howell, a 17-year-old from Hope, has 10 goals and 32 points in 31 games this season. Oddy, a 20-year-old from Abbotsford, has 18 goals and 31 points. They are ranked 15th and 17th in Pacific International Junior Hockey League scoring

Read, 19 and from White Rock, has faced a lot off rubber this year, and is second in the PJHL in both shots at 810 and saves at 730. His record is nine wins, 12 losses and two ties, a 3.39 goals against average and 0.901 save percentage.

Those were the only three players from Ridge to make the Brittain team, while the Aldergrove Kodiaks had five, Mission City Outlaws and Port Moody Panthers one each, and the host Abbotsford Pilots eight.

The player of the game for the Tom Shaw team was John Wesley, as the Richmond Sockeye had two goals and two assists.

The Flames are back in action tonight, hosting the league-leading Aldergrove Kodiaks at Planet Ice at 7:30 p.m.

• Marco Ballarin was the Flames leading scorer and a surefire all-star until he moved up to the B.C. Hockey League with the Prince George Spruce Kings. Having played 10 games, Ballarin has three goals and five points.
